Privacy Policy for ShareContact

ShareContact ("the app") is built around a simple principle: your contacts stay on your device unless you choose to share them. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.
What the app accesses
ShareContact requests access to your Contacts, and only your Contacts. This access is used exclusively so you can select a contact card to share inside a Messages conversation. You control this permission at all times through iOS Settings, and you can grant, limit, or revoke it whenever you like.
What the app does not do
- No data collection. ShareContact does not collect, store, or transmit your contacts, your messages, or any other personal information to us or to anyone else.
- No servers. ShareContact has no backend. There is no account to create and no server it talks to. All processing happens entirely on your device.
- No analytics or tracking. The app contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party tracking of any kind.
- No third parties. ShareContact itself does not share, sell, or otherwise disclose your information to any third party. The only data that ever leaves your device is the specific contact card you deliberately choose to send, through Apple's own Messages app.
- Notes are never read. ShareContact does not request the entitlement needed to read the Notes field on a contact, so that information is never accessible to the app at all.
What is stored, and where
- Sharing preferences (which fields, like email or a photo, are included by default when you share a card) are saved using Apple's standard
UserDefaults, shared only between ShareContact and its Messages extension via an App Group, so your settings stay in sync between the two. This data stays on your device and in your iCloud backup if you have one enabled; it is never sent anywhere else. - Contact cards you choose to share are temporarily written to a private, sandboxed file on your device just long enough to hand off to the Messages app, then automatically cleared out. This is standard behavior for sharing files with another app on iOS, not data collection.
Sharing contact cards
When you choose to share a contact card, that card (a standard .vcf file) is sent through Apple's Messages app to whichever conversation you select, exactly as if you had typed a message yourself. That's a deliberate action you take, sent through Apple's own Messages infrastructure under Apple's own privacy practices, not something ShareContact collects or has visibility into.
Children's privacy
ShareContact does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, an updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Given the app's design, any future change would most likely only make this policy more detailed, not change what the app actually does.
